We've covered round about 50 songs so far. Here are a few audio samples:
Act Naturally
Ringo Starr often gets credit, but this song was first performed by the great Buck Owens & the Buckaroos, topping the Billboard country charts in 1963. Their Bakersfield sound produced nearly two dozen No. 1 hits. Fun facts: Another Bakersfield artist we cover, Merle Haggard, married Buck's ex-wife Bonnie. And Buck co-hosted "Hee-Haw" with Roy Clark until 1986.
Heart of Gold
Here's our own rendition of Neil Young's classic from 1972. Crowds always love it! Neil had a back injury for awhile and had to just play acoustic, but this hit was a silver lining. We love having him in our roster, along with his contemporaries Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and the Cars.
By & By
This beautiful folk tune is from the 2019 Caamp album By & By. We're smitten by their music and also have a soft spot for their Midwest college town roots. We've been known to cover similarly styled songs from bands like the Watkins Family Hour, Elephant Revival, the Lumineers and the Head & the Heart.
Medley: I'll Fly Away & Will the Circle Be Unbroken
"Fly Away" was written by Gillian Welch & Alison Kraus. We cover those two as well as Brandi, the Chicks, the Wailin' Jennys, the Staves and First Aid Kit. From earlier decades, we love Patsy! June! Dolly! Emmylou! Linda! Bonnie! Loretta! Lucinda! And so many more iconic women of old country.
"Will the Circle Be Unbroken" was written by country royals the Carter Family, and many others have covered it. Here we're paying tribute to a particularly raucous version from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Yeah, those old dogs! We like them too.
